Dream Dictionary Symbol Legend

CRONE MASK

Crone MaskErich’s arresting Crone Mask is more than 16 inches from chin to forehead. She is wisdom itself with the water-blue of feeling and intuition as her widow’s peak, and fire-red at her mouth and nose to signify passionate expression. Whenever you see this mask it means a figure from mythology, legend or the collective experience is highlighted. Some have dreams where these figures of antiquity appear and we thought it would be helpful to include a brief description of who they were and what they did to aid in a process Jung described as “amplification”. We can see symbols as individual or collective and many times they are both. Other times a “cigar is just a cigar” as Freud said, and the figure from antiquity in your dream really is that figure visiting you in spirit!

MOON

MoonWhenever you see The Moon, the dream itself in the dream samples found on the right hand side of all the pages in the dictionary follows. We typically dream when the MOON is out and about. MOON consciousness is when something in the unseen world is felt, envisioned and known outside the normal parameters of logical assessment. Erich’s MOON mask features the face of the MOON herself in the centre. Brilliant in its yellow and gold glory. The serious expression on the MOON mask honours the serious business of listening to another person’s dream with respect, and open minded acceptance. The MOON eyes are wide open and therefore fearlessly receptive to all. The four hands around the MOON signify the four directions, four seasons, and the stabilizing influence of the MOON herself.

TRANSFORMATION

TransformationThis piece denotes the interpretive work the dreamer did looking up their dream elements in the Dream Dictionary. Any amount of effort you invest in understanding your dream will result in a transformation in your character and maturity. Erich’s art form shows a child carved at the bottom, innocent and childlike – very much like our unconscious. As the child goes through the wisdom-making experiences of life represented by the raven, they mature into the elder you see at the top of the mask. Our dream lives are a whole other level of experience quite apart and yet connected to our waking lives. By integrating the learning you’ve gained through dreamwork into your waking consciousness you expand and alter your life’s destiny. The elder you become is not the one you will become without dream understanding.

HIGH PRIEST BEAK

HIGH PRIEST BEAKErich’s beak represents the elevating and spiritual process which is triggered when you take action based upon an insight gained from a dream message. Taking action amps your experience and dream knowledge to a whole new level. The raven’s beak is raised skyward representing the process of elevating your relationship to your dream life into the actions you take in your waking life.

SUN MASK

SUN MASKThis mask which measures more than 4′ across represents the awareness, insight and emotional fulfillment the dreamer gains through the work done in interpretation and action taken. Erich carved and painted this Sun mask with Ontario cedar. The Sun’s eyes sparkle with abalone shell and the expression on the mask itself denotes ritual and community which is an important process to aid in your dream understanding.

SOUL WORK PLAQUE

SOUL WORK PLAQUEThis art piece shows two creatures sitting across from each other smoking a pipe. They are talking across a camp fire. Indream reflection we sit down with ourselves or a group to discuss our dreams and their messages in an atmosphere of peace, respect and presence. As you attend to your own or another’s dream message and reflect on its meaning, be attentive, focused and in the present moment. The red of the figures in Erich’s art piece exemplify the passion of connection right to the cellular level when you move with consciousness through a dreamscape in tandem with yourself and/or another.

OAK BOOKCASE

OAK BOOKCASE Erich’s solid oak bookcase has been constructed with no nails. He wanted to make it in the old-fashioned way. It’s beautiful at 7 feet tall. We’ve placed his bookcase alongside wise quotes that we might find in our favourite book. Like the oak in Erich’s bookcase, wise quotes endure and hold a place of solid beauty in our hearts.
